The severity of the headache really depends how the game grid is maintained, if it's purely code based and then converted to world space coordinates just for movement and such, then ugh, major headache. The largest headache I would speculate would be taking the games grid system and transposing it cleanly across the users screen given the camera angle of the game. Originally posted by Cap'n Darwin:The only way to go mouse only would require clickable icons on the map for the keyboard functions like reload, inventory, wait, etc.Ĭontext menus tend to work wonders for this exact use.ĭon't need constant clunky UI elements on the screen, but rather have it loaded in through a expandable context menu that opens up when say you right click on a grid square with all possible actions relative to the contents of that grid square (plus some generic purpose actions like reload, inventory etc).

But this can use different solutions so make request/suggestion isn't possible. Then there's the problem of target selection, enemy or ground, or even interaction elements or to pick stuff like move and pick. Show a visual clue to show a target aimed isn't in LOS, I mean with mouse hovering. Don't bother players with pointless shoot on ground, allow it only when it makes sense like for a grenade or grenade launcher. Perhaps an option so target isn't changed by mouse hovering but click. Command to shoot on aimed target not under mouse cursor, and allow bind it to mouse button or key. Option for enabling/disabling move with mouse commands. In case of move mouse command, option or options to auto stop on sight. Option to have an highlight system with mouse hovering. Option to have auto aim action like click+click aim+shoot, with auto aim click aim and shoot. Optional shortcut bars for weapons/skills, perhaps even items. Don't make separated modes between keyboard and mouse. Don't forgot support mouse buttons user binding, mine has 4 for example. That said a few exception for rare controls is fine, for example escape to bring a global menu not related to play.

You'd be surprised but that argument actually is what convinced me to have this single-handed option in the first place :P That's a good goal, and that's definitely why TB games with ability to use mouse only feel comfortably lazy, nothing to remind for controls or very few, one hand totally free which is perfect for cigarette/pipe/cake/scratch head/scratch dog ears, and ok or eventually baby. I can only imagine how many teary-eyed teens out there there's gonna be.Originally posted by CHOO CHOO:Yeah, but then I could actually play it with a baby in one arm.

There's gonna be a lot of overwhelmed kiddies out there, Linux is hardly user friendly, maybe this version is, but outside of flatpaks, I don't think I have the patience for installing other programs myself.

I overheard an aunt of mine asking someone what Steam was her kids have never played games on PC before and they already want one (I wish them lots of luck and I have some extra bundle game keys for them, but they need to get to the back of the line!). I would never go that route myself but I would also bet the number of these kind of users will be more people than anticipated.

It's probably why they can't be found on the Google Play store anymore.Īnd if they haven't done it yet, I would bet that an enlarge text option or some kind of zoom feature for SteamOS is somewhere on the horizon, not just for games but for the Linux side of the system which will be essential for anyone trying to use the Steam Deck as their ONLY gaming computer.

I like games with an old-school CRPG feel to them and I like supporting Spiderweb Software, but whichever series it was, those games never should have been released on Android.

As for the text size, if I can manage to squint while playing one of the Spiderweb Software titles on a tablet (can't remember whether it was one of the Avernum games or one of the Avadon's) then text size shouldn't be an issue. That sounds great! As for the issue of renaming the character, that's something that could always be taken care by starting a new game on a PC and then loading the save file after the save game is uploaded to the cloud, if someone really did not want to skip the renaming. That said, the only issue i could would be the lack of text entry for name (you can skip it though) and possibly text size (might be a problem for some, but Liam said it reads comfortably). Unfortunately we weren't granted a test kit so I couldn't test it myself :(. Originally posted by Epyon:gamingonlinux managed to run it successfuly and doesn't report any issues.
